Lupus
Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks healthy tissues, leading to inflammation and damage in various parts of the body. It commonly affects the skin, joints, kidneys, heart, and brain. Symptoms include fatigue, joint pain, skin rashes, and organ complications. While the exact cause remains unclear, genetic and environmental factors are believed to play a role. Treatment involves medications such as corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, and lifestyle adjustments to manage flare-ups and reduce inflammation. Ongoing research continues to improve understanding and treatment of this complex disease.
