Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition characterized by intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors (compulsions) aimed at reducing anxiety. These patterns can significantly interfere with daily life and relationships. The exact cause is unknown, but genetic, neurological, and environmental factors are implicated. Effective treatments include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), specifically exposure and response prevention (ERP), and medications like selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). With proper treatment, many individuals experience improved symptom management and quality of life.
