Sjögren's Syndrome
Sjögren’s Syndrome is an autoimmune disease that primarily affects the glands producing moisture, leading to dry eyes and mouth. It can also cause fatigue, joint pain, and organ damage in severe cases. Often associated with other autoimmune diseases like lupus or rheumatoid arthritis, Sjögren’s arises from a combination of genetic predisposition and environmental triggers. Treatment focuses on relieving symptoms through artificial tears, saliva stimulants, and medications to suppress the immune system. Research into more targeted therapies continues to advance care.
